Day 1: Arrival in Alberobello

Individual arrival.

Day 2: Alberobello and surroundings, approx. 50 km

Starting from the famous Trulli town, today you will explore the surrounding area by bike. Through vast olive groves, vineyards, and fruit and almond trees you cycle to Noci, a small town with a historic center. You will return to Alberobello.

Day 3: Castellana Caves, approx. 45 km

Today will take you on a beautiful circuit to the spectacular Castellana Caves. The stalactite cave with its labyrinth of grottos is the largest underground tourist attraction in Italy and can be visited with a guided tour. can be visited with a guided tour. On the way back you can enjoy the view of the Adriatic Sea. 

Day 4: Rest day or cycling day to Martina Franca, approx. 45 km

An alternative to the rest day is a bike ride to the baroque town of Martina Franca. The town lies exactly in the middle between the Ionian and Adriatic seas in the southeast of Murgia. Worth seeing are the Palazzo Ducale, and the Basilica di San Martino. 

Day 5: Locorotondo – Cisternino – Ostuni, approx. 35 km

From Alberobello you will travel through the Valle d’Itria to Locorotondo. The flourishing valley is one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes of the south. Crooked walls of piled-up field stones tame nature. The name Locorotondo literally means round place. The city is also known as "La Città del Vino Bianco" (City of White Wine). Continue cycling to Cisternino and Ostuni. Even from a distance you can see the bright circle of houses that adorn the tops of the three hills of the "Città Bianca". Enjoy the magnificent view of the nearby sea. In the afternoon there will be a transfer by shuttle bus back to Alberobello.

Day 6: Monopoli – Polignano a Mare, approx. 45 km

From Alberobello you cycle to Monopoli, the most important port city between Bari and Brindisi. The route continues to Polignano a Mare. The pearl on the southern Costa di Bari captivates with its extraordinary location: picturesquely clinging to the edges of a cliff and offering fantastic views of the emerald green sea. sea. Day 7: Matera, approx. 65 km

Today you will head to the cultural capital of Matera in the Basilicata region (transfer in the morning). It is also known as the "City of the Sassi". The old town consists partly of cave dwellings and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. The impressive clusters of cave dwellings form independent quarters that are unique in Europe. 

Day 8: Alberobello

So you can now book a bike tour together with cyclists who have different fitness level. Acclivity can be handled easily.

    Note: E-bikes are a great development, but should be - due to their driving characteristics (high weight + high speed) - booked only by very safe and experienced cyclists with a very good sense of balance. Not suitable are electric bikes for people who rarely ride a bicycle

    Airport: Brindisi(BDS)
    From Brindisi Airport you can take the bus "AP" (approx € 5,-) from Brindisi Airport to Brindisi Sation. There you can take the train 4414, 4461 or 4418 (approx. € 4,- to € 10,-). Take the train to Fasano and from there you can take a cab (approx € 20,-) to Alberobello.

    We were not happy that this tour is advertised as a level 2. This tour is challenging on some of the days. Every route was longer than advertised e.g. the first day it was 10k longer. The last day is over 70k. With the result we never got time to look ...
