The cycling vacation from Porto to Lisbon is a charming tour that connects Portugal’s two most important cities. You will visit several of the country’s cultural sights and cycle through picturesque countryside and along idyllic coastal paths. The tour starts in Porto, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn more about port wine, the drink and the culinary dimension associated with it. The route then continues via Furadouro, Aviero and Praia de Mira to the impressive town of Coimbra, which will win you over with its old town and historic university building. Your cycle tour finally ends in Óbidos, where a transfer will take you to Lisbon. Don’t miss out on Portugal’s lively and colorful capital!

You cycle on paved roads and on non-paved trails. Elevation gain up to approx. 900 m (day 7)

Day 1: Porto

Individual arrival and transfer (included in Cat A) from the airport to the start hotel. Explore the diverse city of Porto on your own and immerse yourself in a mixture of culinary delights, world-famous port wine, exciting sights and lively locals!

Day 2: Porto – Furadouro – Aveiro, approx. 57 km + transfer

In the morning of your first cycling day, a transfer will take you to the charming town of Furadouro, where you will hop on your bike and set off in the direction of Aveiro. First you cycle through beautiful pine forests to the Ria de Aveiro, a coastal lagoon whose islands and marshes accompany you all the way to the dune system of São Jacinto. A ferry (not included in the tour price, approx. € 6-8) will then take you to today’s destination, Aveiro.

Day 3: Aveiro – Praia de Mira, approx. 42 km

As soon as you leave the "Portuguese Venice" Aveiro, the route takes you through a landscape of ponds where salt is still extracted in the traditional way. You cycle past small harbors, landing stages and along secluded cycle paths towards today’s destination: the picturesque Praia de Mira.

Day 4: Praia de Mira – Coimbra, approx. 62 km

Today, you will first ride on gravel roads through small villages and towns to the river Mondego, which you will then follow to Coimbra. Coimbra has a lot to offer, especially for those interested in history. From the historic university to the library or the botanical garden - there is a lot to discover here!

Day 5: Coimbra – Maiorca/surroundings, approx. 66 km

The route takes you out of Coimbra and from the interior back towards the coast. Your destination is the small municipality of Maiorca, whose proximity to the coastal town of Figuera da Foz and its location on the Rio Mondego are sure to impress.

Day 6: Maiorca/surroundings – São Pedro de Moel, approx. 71 km

Today you cycle through beautiful stretches of countryside and along the coasts and beaches of Portugal to São Pedro de Moel. This coastal village surrounded by pine forests impresses with its cosmopolitan charm, the beautiful sandy beach and countless terraced cafés that invite you to linger.

Day 7: São Pedro de Moel – Óbidos, approx. 68 km

Today’s final cycling stage takes you from São Pedro de Moel to Obidos. Along the way, admire the breathtaking bay of Nazaré, which is particularly popular with surfers for its huge waves. The historic town of Óbidos is considered one of the best-preserved towns in Portugal and impresses with its picturesque architecture and massive medieval castle.

Day 8: Óbidos – Lisbon, Transfer

Transfer to Lisbon airport. Individual depature or extension.

Bicycle

The following rental bikes are available:

The bikes are freewheel bikes with disc brakes and mostly women’s frames. A high-quality Shimano rear derailleur, SR Suntour suspension, a softer saddle and ergonomic, non-slip rubber grips ensure a smooth and comfortable ride on any surface. Schwalbe tires that guarantee grip and increased puncture resistance, good Shimano brakes and a solid aluminum frame ensure a safe and worry-free ride. All in all, this bike has all the features you need to make the most of your bike ride.

The e-bikes are equipped with YAMAHA or Bosch motors, guaranteeing a smooth ride that is easy to master even on steep inclines!
