Route

Tour profile / level 2

You will cycle mainly on cycle paths, tarred agricultural roads and minor roads with little traffic. Days 5 and 6 are slightly hilly along the wine route.

Day 1: Strasbourg

Individual arrival.

Day 2: Strasbourg – Sélestat/surroundings, approx. 25-65 km

You will leave Strasbourg along the Rhône-Rhine canal which will lead you along its very pretty cycle track into the heart of the Ried.

Day 3: Sélestat/surroundings – Colmar, approx. 50-65 km

You will travel through the landscapes and villages of the Alsatian Ried which is rich in aquatic flora and fauna. Arrival in Colmar, the capital of the wine of Alsace and the town of art, by the cycle track of the channel of Colmar.

Day 4: Colmar – Guebwiller/surroundings, approx. 35-45 km

From Colmar you follow the French wine route. The dreamy wine-growing villages, with many Alsatian timber-frame houses, and magnificent mediaeval town centres in the midst of extensive vineyards are areas for unwinding, enjoyment and simply relaxing.

Day 5: Guebwiller – Riquewihr/surroundings, approx. 40-50 km

At the foot of the Vosges nestle the winemaking villages responsible for the reputation of the Alsatian Grand Crus: Eguisheim, Turkheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr.

Day 6: Riquewihr – Obernai/surroundings, approx. 35-50 km

Along the wine road you will discover the villages of Barr, Andlau and its abbey, Bergheim, Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr.

Day 7: Obernai – Strasbourg, approx. 40-55 km

Country roads and cycle tracks will take you from Rosheim and to Avolsheim. From there, along the cycle track on the banks of the Bruche canal, you will reach the capital of Europe: Strasbourg. Individual departure or extension.

Bicycles including panniers

The offered bikes are touring bikes with an aluminium frame and kitted with responsive brakes and gears. Plus: comfort gel saddles, flat-palmed grips, Schwalbe Marathon anti-puncture tyres. 

You can choose between the following bikes:

  • 21-speed-bike with hand brakes Unisex or mens frame (from 165cm up)
  • E-Bikes

To the complete equipment belongs of course also suitable accessories: Saddle bag, handlebar bag, service set with tool and spare tube, air pump, and lock.


E-bike

By popular demand, we have now invested in a considerable number of e-bikes, much favoured by cyclists who love the great Outdoors, but prefer to let the bike take the strain. With an electro bike every bike tour is a breeze! The shiftable, low noise electric drive of our modern E-bike relieves you of some of the work and increases the pedal force up to 3 times ... Acclivity can be handled easily.

Arrival by plane

Airport: Strasbourg (SXB), Basel/Mulhouse (MLH), Karlruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB)
The Entzheim train station is situated on the opposite side of the car park, outside the airport Strasbourg. From here there is a direct TER rail connection to Strasbourg station (7 mins.), The taxi journey takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

Bikes were fantastic. Goregous area and nice hotels. Pre-travel info could have been better - were told there would be a pre-tour briefing between 4-6pm in the written info, but when we called, they said there would be none (owing to covid). Some of ...
