Experience an unforgettable bike tour from Porto to Mira, specially designed for families and following the breathtaking coastline from northern to central Portugal. Your journey begins in Porto, a vibrant city full of history, known for its world-famous port wine and its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From here, you will discover the region’s fascinating nature and culture.
The route takes you through the nature reserve of the São Jacinto dunes and along the picturesque Ria de Aveiro, famous for its typical Moliceiro boats and the city of Aveiro, known as “little Venice”. En route, charming beaches invite you to take a break and enjoy the wide-open sea views. This tour combines family-friendly cycling with unique natural and cultural experiences!
You cycle on paved roads only. The stages are family-friendly and range from 19 to a maximum of 46 km per day.
Arrival and transfer from Porto airport to your arrival hotel in Porto. Explore the city with its impressive bridges and the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town.
The first day starts in the old town of Porto, where you cross the Dom Luís bridge, which offers spectacular views of the Douro River. On the way, you will have the opportunity to explore several small beaches such as Valadares, Francelos and Miramar. At Miramar beach, it is worth stopping to visit the famous Capela do Senhor da Pedra. In Espinho, a seaside resort, you continue on a beautiful bike path along the pine forest to Furadouro beach. On the way, you will discover the beautiful Paramos Lagoon (also known as the Esmoriz Lagoon), where you can observe some bird species.
You leave Furadouro and head towards Ria de Aveiro on flat roads. The Ria de Aveiro is a shallow coastal lagoon connected to the Atlantic Ocean. Its unique mastoid wetland has several branches that form islands, and it is an absolute pleasure to cycle along it. The beach of Praia da Torreira, surrounded by dunes, is a prime surfing spot!
The Ria de Aveiro, the shallow coastal lagoon you saw yesterday, extends to the city of Aveiro. The canals of the Ria run through the city and convey an atmosphere of calm and beauty that cannot be found anywhere else. If you arrive in time, take a ride in one of the Moliceiro boats. In the past, these boats were used to harvest the mole, an algae often used to fertilize agricultural land.
You leave Aveiro and cycle through traditional salt marshes where salt has been harvested for generations. Continue to a jetty overlooking the harbor and old cod boats. After crossing the main bridge, you will reach the village of Barra. On the way to Mira, you will admire the famous, colorfully striped haystack houses of Costa Nova. Soon the Ria lagoon will shape the landscape, before small fields and vegetable gardens accompany you to the beach at Mira.

The bikes are freewheel bikes with disc brakes and mostly women’s frames. A high-quality Shimano rear derailleur, SR Suntour suspension, a softer saddle and ergonomic, non-slip rubber grips ensure a smooth and comfortable ride on any surface. Schwalbe tires that guarantee grip and increased puncture resistance, good Shimano brakes and a solid aluminum frame ensure a safe and worry-free ride. All in all, this bike has all the features you need to make the most of your bike ride.
The e-bikes are equipped with YAMAHA or Bosch motors, guaranteeing a smooth ride that is easy to master even on steep inclines!
