Route

Easy to moderate. The route runs mostly on agricultural roads as well as on little streets and cycleways. On your tour you sometimes come across a bit hilly and unpaved forest ways, sometimes sand ways too also sandy roads with a an uncomfortable surface.

Day 1: Lüneburg

Individual arrival.

Day 2: Lüneburg – Uelzen, approx. 55 km

You still cycle through a typical heath landscape. Uelzen is today’s destination of your stage. Art awakens interest here too. During the Expo 2000 the railway station in Uelzen was rebuild in the style of Friedensreich Hundertwasser to the worth seeing Hundertwasser – station.

Day 3: Uelzen – Celle, approx. 60 km

Through little villages your today’s stage leads you into the residential city Celle. About 480 restored half-timbered houses are the historic district here. They and the castle of Celle tout for your attention. Enjoy the superb buildings during a stroll through the historic district.

Day 4: Celle – Hermannsburg/surroundings, approx. 40 km

Alongside the river Örtze little wooden bridges invite you to stay and allow you a good view onto the Örtze valley. From here you can observe with a bit of luck interesting things in nature. Hermannsburg looks back onto a more than 1,000 years old history. The Saxon duke Hermann Billung had probably built a castle near the today’s Peter Paul church, which became later on the centre of the settlement.

Day 5: Hermannsburg/surroundings – Soltau, approx. 49 km

Through the nature park “Südheide“ you cycle past the Lönsstein (monument) into the town Soltau with the worth seeing town hall, the North German toy museum or the well known Heide Park (amusement park) with many shows and attractions.

Day 6: Soltau – Schneverdingen, approx. 35 km

Tour-Stations on your today’s stage are Wiedeholz, location of the last knights battle, as well as the former heath farm and the typical Gothic heath church in Wolterdingen. Enjoy the rest of the day in Schneverdingen and visit for example the heath garden with 130 different heath variations.

Day 7: Schneverdingen – Lüneburg, approx. 50 - 65 km

Bicycle tour through the typical heath landscape of the national park “Nordheide”. Heath, pine forests and German heaths shape the broadness of the landscape. Via the “Wilseder Berg“ (hill) and little romantic hamlets your way leads you to Lüneburg with its picturesque centre.
